Remember I told you that, while in Florence, Italy, I got to visit Montblanc’s leather house – The Pelleteria? Well, today I am going to tell you everything about this amazing experience.
The house has never been opened for visits before. Since the brand has settled in Italy, in 2006, they have focused on increasing their knowledge and know-how. Montblanc’s leather house used to be in Frankfurt, Germany, but in 2006 the brand decided that it was time to move to Italy and get a closer to other leather brands such as Salvatore Ferragamo, Ermenegildo Zegna, Chanel and Dolce & Gabanna. The brand was making a huge investment in leather goods.
In Florence, they believe to have developed a great synergy between Italy’s passion and Germany’s expertise. While the Italians focus on the design, the German’s main concern is always quality, and that is why Montblanc has such amazing products – they found the perfect balance between the two things.
During the visit I got to see how the leather goods are made from the very moment the leather comes into the house until the product is all done. Believe it or not, everything is truly handmade. And I was very impressed with how clean and organized their atelier looks. No wonder their products are so well put-together.
All the employers working in the house were brought from the very top leather brands in Italy. Montblanc recruited from Ferragamo, Zegna, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Balmain, and many others. They wanted to have all the best people with them, and you can see they got it just by looking at their products. It is a leather good with the quality and design of a jewel.
I already knew Montblanc very well. I have always loved their pens and watches. But is incredible how, after seeing how it’s all done, you get to value the product even more. It is really a piece of art.
I hope you guys have enjoyed reading about this awesome experience so far.
See you later!
